A Musical Journey Rooted in Passion

Dessy XOver the past three years, Dessy X has taken hold of the local music scene, performing at various venues across Des Moines and the Midwest. She’s shared the stage with notable acts such as Ryze Hendricks, Sky Dxddy, and B-Zeik, while also collaborating with local artists. Her feature on “Sneaky Link” with Jandrobands and “Orlando” with Imma, as well as appearances in music videos for TdaGod’s “Wassup,” Crealot’s “Woppie,” and Colo Chanel’s “Mill Ticket,” have made her a recognizable figure in the scene.

Dessy X isn’t just admired for her talent but also for her support of fellow artists. Whether it’s attending local showcases or helping younger artists get performance opportunities, she’s regarded as the “big sister” of Des Moines’ music community. Her presence has fostered a sense of unity and collaboration among local artists.

New Music on the Horizon

Fans of Dessy X can look forward to her upcoming single, “sweetxscape,” which drops on December 11th. The alternative rock track dives deep into the emotions of feeling stuck in a relationship that’s no longer healthy but hard to leave due to attachment and comfort. “Sweetxscape” is a testament to Dessy X’s ability to tap into personal experiences and turn them into music that resonates with her audience.

A Lifelong Love for Poetry and Music

Dessy XDessy X’s journey in music started long before she became a performing artist. As a child, she dreamed of forming a brother-sister music duo, and by high school, she had found her love for poetry, thanks to her inspiring teacher, Mr. Lyle. His encouragement to embrace spoken word helped shape her artistic style, which continues to blend poetry and music today.

Surrounded by artists in her early twenties, Dessy X began writing and recording songs, immersing herself in the creative process. By 2021, she was ready to share her work with the world, releasing her debut single, “The Baddest,” and later her first EP, Broken Hearts Association, which solidified her place in the alternative R&B genre.

2023: A Year of Milestones

Dessy X’s rise continued into 2023 with the release of her EP, 5 Realms of Grief, inspired by the five stages of grief. That year, she also headlined her own show and opened for Sky Dxddy’s tour stop in Des Moines, performing in front of her largest audience yet. Despite taking a break from performing to focus on new music, Dessy X’s name continues to grow in the local music scene.

The Power of Music and Connection

Dessy XFor Dessy X, music is more than just a creative outlet—it’s a way to connect with others. Her performances allow her to share not only her own emotions but also to provide a voice for those who feel misunderstood. Dessy X’s mission is clear: to make people feel less alone in their struggles and to remind them that music will always be there to provide comfort and understanding.

As she prepares for the release of “sweetxscape” and continues to work on new projects, Dessy X remains dedicated to pushing her creative boundaries. With a strong presence in Des Moines and beyond, there’s no doubt that Dessy X’s influence will continue to grow.
